Regal Rexnord has real momentum in areas investors care about right now, especially the equipment it sells into data centers and aerospace, where orders have been growing quickly.
At the same time, the company carries a heavy debt load, spent more cash than it brought in during the most recent quarter to fund that growth, and its home heating and cooling business has been shrinking.
Its profits relative to the money invested in the business are still well below stronger industrial peers, even though the stock trades at a valuation that assumes a good part of that gap closes soon.
Overvalued, though not dramatically so, since the price already reflects a fair amount of the good news.
The company sells in three main areas: motion and automation equipment such as precision motors, controls, and aerospace and defense parts used in factories and warehouses; industrial power transmission parts like bearings, gears, and couplings that keep heavy machinery turning; and smaller motors, fans, and controls used mostly in home and commercial heating and cooling systems.
We'd revisit this call if the price falls below $130.00 or rises above $300.00.
These are review triggers for us to take another look, not price targets or a promise the stock will reach them.

Regal Rexnord operates three segments: Automation & Motion Control (AMC; precision motors, controls, aerospace/defense components, data center power modules), Industrial Powertrain Solutions (IPS; bearings, gears, couplings, industrial power transmission), and Power Efficiency Solutions (PES; fractional motors, fans, HVAC-oriented controls). Fiscal 2025 net sales were $5,934.5 million, down 1.6% year over year on divestiture effects (the 2024 sale of Industrial Motors & Generators to WEG for about $444 million). Q1 2026 net sales rose 4.3% to $1,479.1 million (organic +1.6%).
Q1 2026 adjusted EPS was $2.17 versus $2.15 a year earlier; GAAP EPS rose to $0.96. Adjusted EBITDA was $304.4 million (20.6% margin) versus $309.5 million (21.8% margin) in Q1 2025, a mix- and tariff-driven margin decline despite higher revenue. Full-year 2026 guidance (as of May 2026): sales growth ~4.5%, adjusted EPS $10.20-$11.00, adjusted EBITDA margin ~22.2%.
Fiscal 2025 operating cash flow was $990.8 million; capex $97.7 million; SBC $37.3 million; free cash flow after SBC $855.8 million. Q1 2026 free cash flow was negative $2.5 million versus positive $85.5 million a year earlier, driven by working capital investment to support data center growth. Full-year 2026 FCF guidance is about $650 million, a step down from fiscal 2025's actual level.
Total debt was $4,706.4 million and cash $401.0 million as of March 31, 2026 (net debt ~$4,305.4 million), versus $4,788.7 million debt and $521.7 million cash at fiscal 2025 year-end. Net debt/LTM adjusted EBITDA is about 3.31x. Q1 2026 included refinancing $1,100.0 million of 2026 notes via an $850.0 million term facility plus revolver draws. Management targets ~2.7x net leverage by year-end 2026 via debt paydown priority.
TTM ROIC ~4.9%, ROE ~4.1%, gross margin 37.4% (up from 26.8% in 2016, reflecting the post-PMC/Altra mix shift). Q1 2026 book-to-bill: AMC 1.24x, IPS 1.09x, PES 1.13x. Unmitigated annual tariff impact estimate cut to $127 million from $155 million; management targets dollar cost neutrality mid-2026, full margin neutrality year-end 2026.
The automated peer set (CAT, GE, RTX, ETN, PH, CMI, EMR, ITW) shows RRX's EV/EBITDA of 26.6x versus a peer median of 24.7x, near the middle. But this set mixes very large diversified/aerospace names with different scale and quality. RRX's ROIC (~4.9%) is far below the peer median (~18%), and its revenue growth (3-year CAGR ~4.4%, largely M&A-driven) understates real organic softness. A quality-adjusted view suggests RRX's true multiple gap to peers is wider than the raw median implies.
The 10-year Treasury yield is about 4.56% and CPI is running about 4.2% year over year, keeping the cost of capital and input-cost/tariff pass-through relevant. US industrial capex, reshoring, and AI-driven data center buildout are structural tailwinds for RRX's addressable market.
Outgoing CEO Louis Pinkham sold 22,509 shares and CFO Robert Rehard sold 6,499 shares in May 2026; a director also sold shares. No insider purchases were reported over the trailing twelve months.
Catalysts: ePOD data center backlog ($735 million secured, ~$1 billion cumulative two-year sales target) converting to revenue; tariff cost neutrality by year-end 2026; deleveraging toward 2.7x; smooth CEO transition to Aamir Paul (from Schneider Electric) by July 1, 2026. Risks: residential HVAC weakness (PES organic sales -10.3% in Q1 2026, HVAC down >20%), rare earth magnet supply constraints pressuring AMC margins (~30 bps), elevated leverage if FCF disappoints, OEM-heavy mix headwinds.
Negative Q1 2026 FCF, weak PES, leverage near 3.3x, and a persistent ROIC gap to peers argue against the more bullish "AI infrastructure re-rating" narrative (echoed in a June 2026 Kerrisdale Capital report that discloses a long position and target of the stock potentially doubling; treat as advocacy, not neutral evidence). Falsification trigger: AMC book-to-bill reverting toward 1.0x or FCF failing to recover toward the $650 million guide by Q3 2026.
Base case (12.5x on guided ~$1.3-1.4 billion fiscal 2026 EBITDA, net debt ~$4.3 billion, 66.4 million shares) implies roughly $195/share; bear case (11x on ~$1.15 billion EBITDA) implies roughly $130; bull case (17x on ~$1.45 billion EBITDA) implies roughly $300. Reassess if AMC book-to-bill or FCF trend breaks meaningfully from current trajectory, or if net leverage fails to decline as guided.
Mechanical model output, a screen, not a fair value.conservative screen, understates growth/AI-capex names
Applying a leverage and returns-adjusted EV/EBITDA multiple (roughly 11x to 17x, below the raw peer median of about 25x given Regal Rexnord's below-peer return on invested capital and 3.3x net leverage) to guided fiscal 2026 EBITDA implies a base case well under today's price; the stock currently trades near the top of a reasonable scenario range, so the price already assumes the data center and tariff-mitigation stories land close to plan.
The research read is more favorable than the mechanical screen's output.
Confidence = 0.7 × research sub-score + 0.3 × mechanical sub-score. Mechanical sub-score rewards the Layer 1 screen for agreeing with Layer 2's direction (corroboration), not just for being conviction=NORMAL in isolation.
